The Nevada Future City Competition is a community-funded program that seeks to engage middle school kids in STEM, particularly engineering. It is a non-profit group that is community-funded, through donations and grants provided from various local companies, trade groups, and nonprofit agencies.

We are one of the over 40 regions from the United States and around the world that are part of the Future City Competition, run by the DiscoverE Foundation (a coalition of engineer societies), that attracts over 40,000 students annually to participate and become involved in engineering and other STEM fields.

Locally, we are a committee of individuals, donating our time to organize, fundraise, manage and run the competition from planning through the January competition. If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

Budget

The Nevada competition has a budget of around $20,000 per year to fund the competition, resources for students and teachers, prizes, and helping to send the winning team to Washington, D.C. in February. We rely on the companies throughout Nevada to donate to meet our fundraising goals to help run the competition.
